Protecting Cargill Brands: An Overview
Trademarks are among a company’s most valuable assets. Cargill’s trademarks signify to a purchaser that the products he or she is purchasing are quality products produced by a company with a reputation for dependability and integrity.

Cargill’s trademarks may not be used by anyone other than Cargill, its subsidiaries or divisions, except under a licensing agreement. Licensing agreements must be approved by the Law Department.

In order to preserve the value of all Cargill trademarks, it’s important that we use them correctly with appropriate trademark symbols in accordance with our trademark policy.

Use Trademarks Appropriately

Never use the Cargill logo, or any other logo or brandmark, in a sentence.
Follow the trademark with the generic descriptor (common name) of the product.
Use the trademark as an adjective, not as a noun.
Never use the trademark as a verb.
Never use the trademark in plural or possessive form.
Use the trademark in a form distinctive from the surrounding copy. Where possible, use the form specified by management. At the very least, the trademark should carry an initial capital letter. Other options include all capital letters, boldface or italic type, or underlining.
Use the markings ®, TM, RM, SM, etc., as appropriate in your country, whenever the trademark or registered mark is used. It should always be placed at the end of the trademark name, or discreetly next to a logo or brandmark.
