Internal Web standards have been developed to maintain consistent representation of the Cargill brand for all internal, employee-focused Web sites, or intranets. These standards address the following areas: brand bar, content area, footer and background.
A more detailed style guide, as well as a toolkit of HTML templates and style sheets, is available to assist in the design and development of internal Web sites. For more information, visit the Internal Web Standards site, or contact Lise Hansen or Mike Vidnovic in Corporate Affairs.

Brand Bar
The brand bar has been created to help establish consistency across all Cargill internal Web sites, while differentiating them from our Corporate site and external Internet sites. The Cargill brand bar is a horizontal bar extending across the top of all Web pages. The only elements allowed in the brand bar include:
Cargill Logo
The Cargill logo should be a clickable link to the home page of the intranet site. Downloadable versions of the Cargill logo are available on the Identity Guidelines site.
Cargill Connects Tab
A tab labeled "Cargill Connects" should be present in the right-hand corner of the brand bar and link to http://cargillconnects.cargill.com.
Site Name
The site name is the Business Unit, Function name, or common interest topic that is the focus of the site. An optional secondary descriptor can be used in combination with the site name. Specifications for this secondary descriptor are in the style guide and toolkit.
Navigation Bar
The navigation bar separates the brand bar from the content area and contains primary navigation. Navigation links should be HTML text, not graphical text. If you choose not to use navigation in this location, the blank green bar should remain present.
Elements that should NOT appear in the brand bar include: graphics, photography, gradations, colored shapes, animations, search function and any other elements not mentioned above.
Content Area
The content area includes everything between the navigation bar and the footer. This area allows for creative latitude in organizing your content. Except for ensuring that content is current, relevant and appropriate and overall style is consistent with Cargill's Brand Identity Guidelines, no specific guidelines are mandated for the content area.
In addition to copy and images, other elements that may appear in this area include site search, breadcrumbs and vertical side navigation. If search is used, it should be site-specific and be located on the right-hand side, below the navigation bar.
Background
The background area color options for intranet sites are HTML C8D09A and HTML CFD6C4, as shown respectively below.

Footer
The footer is a 5-pixel solid white border should be used around the footer. The only information required in the footer is the Cargill copyright statement, which should follow this format:
© (year of publication) Cargill, Incorporated. All Rights Reserved.
Other links specific to your site - such as "Site Map" or "Contact" - can be placed in the footer as appropriate. |
