The following standards have been developed to maintain consistent brand and visitor experience for all external, customer-facing Web sites. Please review the Internal Web Site Standards for developing employee-focused, intranet sites. The guidelines for external web sites are the same for the Cargill Brand and all Product Brands.

The layout of external Web pages consists of the following: the Cargill brand bar, the navigation bar, the content area, the footer and the background. A toolkit of HTML templates and style sheets is available to help Business Units, subsidiaries, Cargill-endorsed companies and brands with separate identities quickly and easily design and develop external Web sites that support the Cargill Masterbrand Strategy. Contact Lise Hansen in Corporate Affairs to review your Web site plans and obtain the toolkit files.

Cargill Brand Bar
The Cargill brand bar has been created to help establish consistency across all Cargill external Web sites, while differentiating them from our Corporate site and intranet sites. The Cargill brand bar is a horizontal bar extending across the top of all Web pages. The only elements allowed in the Cargill brand bar include:

Cargill Logo
The black-and-green Cargill logo is 37 pixels tall and 82 pixels wide. It is positioned at the left side of the brand bar 21 pixels from the left side of the window, 17 pixels from the top of the window and 21 pixels above the navigation bar. The Cargill logo should be a clickable link to the home page of the Web site.

Web Site Name
The Web site name is set in Helvetica Neue Condensed or Arial, 24 points. It is vertically set on the same baseline as the Cargill logo and is 3 logo-widths away from the left-hand side.

Cargill.com Link
A link to the Cargill.com home page is required on the right side of the brand bar, and it should be linked to http://www.cargill.com. This link should always be labeled "Cargill.com", and variations are not acceptable.

Navigation Bar
The navigation bar separates the Cargill brand bar from the content area and contains primary navigation. It is 21 pixels tall, HTML #C8D09A. The navigation link area is HTML #837A61, which is a tint of Pantone 469, with white dividers.

The preferred option for primary navigation links and drop-down navigation links is HTML text, set in Arial font. If graphical text links are necessary, Helvetica Neue Condensed font is to be used. Text is white in both cases.

Elements that should NOT appear in the brand bar include: graphics, photography, gradations, colored shapes, animations, search function and any other elements not mentioned above.

Content Area
The content area includes everything between the navigation bar and the footer. This area allows for flexibility and creative latitude in organizing your content. The toolkit provides a variety of options to start with for arranging your content. Except for ensuring content is current, relevant and appropriate, no specific guidelines are mandated for the content area. In addition to copy and images, other elements that may appear in the content area include site search, breadcrumbs and vertical side navigation.

Footer
The footer is HTML #837A61, which is a tint of Pantone 469. Navigational links to cargill.com and privacy information are required in the footer. A link to a site map, legal notice, or other common information may also be included as appropriate. The Cargill copyright statement must be included. It should be right-justified and follow this format:

© (year of publication) Cargill, Incorporated. All Rights Reserved.

A 5-pixel solid white border should be used around the footer.

Background
The background area of the site must be HTML #7C9637, HTML #384467 or HTML #A5AB59. The white area should be no more than 900 pixels in width and horizontally centered in the window so the background color is seen along both sides of the white area.

New and Existing Web Sites
All existing external Cargill Web sites should be updated to conform to the External Web Site Guidelines. To create a new Cargill Web site, contact Lise Hansen in Corporate Affairs to obtain the toolkit or discuss your plans for independent development.
